Re: When did you discover Yoko
I discovered Yoko back in 1978 when we spent the evening at a friend's house near Antwerpen. Us kids were bored so one of the older member of the family took us to his room where he had a large collection of comics. I found Yoko and read every copy before we went back home later in the evening! The next day my mother took me to our local comic shop and there I bought my first, which I still have. I was about 9 years old.
I found Roger Leloup's style of illustration stunning, and nothing really compared to it before or since.
In the end we moved to England, my Yoko books were packed away and forgotten till recently, when another house move brought them out once more. My son has now also fallen in love with Yoko and I now buy new and replacement copies for him to read in Dutch and English whenever I visit Belgium. I am trying to get Album 24 in Dutch but can't find it anywhere for sale #egt#
In the UK the comic tradition is different to France and Belgium, and American style 'dark' comics or Manga are prefered (A good example of a famous comic here is 'Alice in Sunderland' - even my university has it in its library). However, I am trying to get a large comic shop in Nottingham to stock Yoko, and they have been interested so its a start.
