vendredi 16 mai 2008 à 23:43 My favorite caracters changed a lot in the time : First, it was Poky (I was just a little older than she when I discovered the comics, and I didn't understand very well the story, but Poky was my favorite : I could dream I was with them in the airplane and in the sea...), then, It was Yoko, when I understood who she was. then, I was very sensible because of Ingrid : she is a so good musician, and she is one of Yoko's friends ! I wanted to be with them... again !
When I came on this website, I tried to understand my avatar, and I wrote his story for this site (the non-official story of Gobol)... Finally, I don't think I have a favorite character... It depens a lot on my humour, my life at this moment, my dreams or my projects... On ne trébuche jamais deux fois sur la même pierre. |

samedi 21 juin 2008 à 10:22 For me, it is definitely Khâny! OK she is not only pretty but also downright beautifull! But she is far from being the only one and this is not the reason for my preference.
She is ponderated. One definition of wisdom is the ability to take the right decisions and make appropriate choices. By this definition, she is certainly one of the wisest characters in the series (if not THE wisest).
Not only is she wise, but also very quick. We can appraise this in "Le trio de l'étrange" when she is confronted to the problem of going against the recommandation of the all-powerfull coordinator. Yoko sums up the only two possible choices "You will have to choose one camp". But Khâny has already seen THE solution to this difficult situation : "Or to create a third one : conciliation". She never looses her head ; we can easily see this by contrast with Yoko when they flee the sonic weapon in "Les Titans" as Yoko wants to rush to save Xunk. But Khâny, despite the dire emergency and intense drama of the situation, sees clearly "No! The danger for him is our presence!".
She can have emotions, as clearly seen in the opening pages of "Les Titans" and when she meets Sadhar and her mother in "Les trois soleils de Vinéa". Yet, never do her emotions make her loose self control and rational (and terribly efficient!) thinking. Her advanced scientific formation is certainly no stranger to this behaviour, but I am convinced this is mostly due to her exceptionnal personnality.
Vic is also one of my favorites, for similar reasons. He is one of the most important characters in the series, yet he is humble, self-effacing. Very mature, his love (obvious!) for Yoko is well contained and does not disturb his behaviour. Always available, always true and faithfull, he is very close to what the ideal friend should be (and this is not a small statement!).
Liao has also caught my attention by her "wild" personnality. She is also humble. She is quite powerfull by her ability to command the dragon in "La pagode des brumes", yet she never abuses.
Oh! Did I forget Yoko? Well, need I mention?

I forgot Peter Hertzel. We see very little of him (mostly in "Le feu de Wotan" and a quick appearance in "Le canon de Kra") yet I find this "very little" quite impressive! He is very rich, being the sole owner of a powerfull data processing corporation. Yet he shows no sign of cupidity. This is a very rare virtue amongst high-level bussinessmen. (Although there are some in the real world, like Lawrence Summers.) On the contrary, he uses his many talents ("many" since "his" talents include those of his engineers and scientists) and his influence for humanitarian and peace-promoting purposes. Yes, he takes control over situations and people. But I think he does so very rightfully
Citation de Peter Hertzel (translated) :
By the right I take by putting my life and my fortune at the service of peace.
And he is also humble...
How I wish all powerfull bussinessmen and decision-makers were Hertzels!
